Our guest speaker at this week's meeting was Crystal Heart Kazmi. Unfortunately Jim Kushner (Rotary Club of Inwood) was unable to make it -- we hope he is feeling better!
Crystal gave a lively talk about Pakistan, US, India and China relations, among other things. He also gave kudos to our public transportation system, of which he took a train from Grand Central and a bus to get to Yorktown Pizza and Pasta!
Unfortunately after all that there were only four members of the club in attendance, but Crystal was still upbeat. Thank you Crystal for joining us! Anyone interested in his presentation can visit tinyurl.com/RotaryCHKShort.
Helen Lynch recommended we put a call-tree back into place, where if someone isn't able to make a meeting they call their assigned person and it makes its way up the tree to the President. This will need to be discussed.
Helen Lynch also announced that the Book Drive for the Putnam Valley Food Pantry is on hold until September. Our Club has given them almost 400 books to date and they are so appreciative.
Because of the size of the group, we did not do Happy Dollars.
Next week's speaker is SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition), who works to enable the open sharing of research outputs and educational materials in order to democratize access to knowledge, accelerate discovery, and increase the return on our investment in research and education.
We hope to see you there!
