Meeting Minutes - May 2nd, 2018


Guest Speakers:

Helen Reisler, member of the New York Club, past President (2001-02) and past District Governor (2005-06) spoke about the relationship between Rotary and the United Nations. The relationship was forged in 1945 when Rotary helped to formulate the UN Charter. Over the years, the relationship between Rotary and the UN has become stronger through Polio Plus and UNICEF. Thomas V. McConnon, also a member of the New York Club, has written a book titled Conversations at the United Nations. The contents of the book are based on interviews, conversations and presentations that he chronicled from the

International Breakfast Meetings organized by the New York Club. For more information go to http://www.amazon.com and click on "books".

Meeting Notes:

We met, today, at Yorktown Pizza & Pasta and will continue to hold our weekly meetings there, until further notice.

Patti advised us of the following:

The QUAD+2 meeting will be held on Thursday, May17 at Cortlandt Colonial and will be hosted by the Ossining club. Please RSVP to Patti's email ASAP.

Please note there will be no meeting on Wednesday, May 16.

Our Installation/Paul Harris Dinner is scheduled for June 14 at Peter Pratt's. Please see the invitation sent by Patti for more information.

The District Training Assembly will be held on May 12th at Iona College.

The District's Governor's Installation Dinner is June 10th at Briar Cliff Manor and will begin at 5:30PM.

Patti asked us to consider sponsoring someone for the Peace Fellowship Program. There was discussion and the idea received favorably. This will be discussed further. This is a good program which includes academic, practice

and global networking at Rotary Peace Centers. Its aim is to develop leaders who will be catalysts for peace and and conflict prevention. Let us know what you think - Check the RI website for more information. Applications must be submitted by May 31st.

Health of Club:

There has been no word of illness among the members.

This & That:

We welcomed many guests today and hope they join again.

The 50-50 Raffle of $8. was won by Diana Q. and the Jackpot stands at $212.
