Guest Speaker
Amir Asadi, the District’s Membership Coordinator, gave an excellent talk on growing membership. He asked that we send him a Action Plan describing how we will recruit new members (Geri is writing this up). He also asked for a 100-150 word overview on the history of our Club. He will collect these from all of the clubs in the District and create a book for everyone. He also asked for us to email him the names and vocations of new members and he will have a welcome note posted on the District’s website. Amir, who a member of the Bronx Club, invited us to their Holiday Party on Dec. 12th at Marina del Ray. Thank you Amir for visiting with us!
Meeting Notes
We had a table at the Town & Lion’s Club’s Halloween Parade and Carnival this past Saturday and gave out bubbles and candy. It was a great day! It was suggested that we buy a Rotary tablecover for such events as well as our installation dinners and such. Russell Hampton sells them for $200; Patti is looking into.
The collection of signed holiday cards for United for the Troops continues. Please bring your cards (include “from the Yorktown Rotary Club” when you sign the cards) by the November 15th meeting. United for the Troops is also looking for volunteers to help pack the gifts for the soldiers on Saturday, Nov. 25th. Rotary won’t have a formal presense there, but if you would like to volunteer, please go to http://unitedforthetroops.org/.
Health of the Club
Ann was absent today due to a lingering cold, but hopes to attend the next meeting.
