Guest Speaker
Our own Helen L. attended the RI Convention in Atlanta last week and she gave us an overview. She said that at least 40,000 people attended the convention and that the featured speakers, Bill Gates and Ashton Kutchner (he is deeply involved in human rights issues) were well received, the breakout sessions were excellent and there were interesting displays of the many Rotary projects around the world. In addition there were tourist packages available and she visited the World of Coke (Coca-Cola) and the Georgia Aquarium. Helen told us that it was an enjoyable and productive week and she would encourage any member to attend future Conventions. Thank you, Helen.
Meeting Notes
President - Elect Patti presided today and the following matters were discussed:
Helen B. volunteered to order a get well gift for Steve Ucko to be sent to his home at the appropriate time (see below).
The RI shirts will be ordered as soon as the Board decides on a color. An order form will then be distributed to all members for size information. Payment of $27. will go to Rose.
Geri told us that she attended the Nantucket Rotary Club meeting last week and enjoyed being with the group. One of their projects is to help residents of the Island who are in need through a food pantry and fuel assistance to the elderly and families who don’t have electricity or heat.
A Best & Wurst meeting was held. Helen B. proposed that sponsors be sought to help alleviate the costs. We would ask for a money donation or all we need of a given commodity such as brats, soda, water, ice, snacks,etc. These sponsorships would be on three levels, Platinum ($1,000), Gold($500) and Silver ($250) with specific advantages offered (tickets to the event, listing on our event shirt, etc.). Our goal is to have a healthy profit and perhaps this plan would help us achieve that goal. What do you think?
Health of Club
There have been no reports of illness among the members, but our friend from the Northeast Westchester club, Steve Ucko, will be undergoing Heart surgery soon. We wish him well and a speedy recovery.

Helen L. won the 50-50 Raffle today and gave the $6 back to the club. Thank you, Helen! The Jackpot now stands at $13.
