Meeting Minutes - February 22, 2017

Guest Speaker

Reginald (Reggie) LaFatyette, Westchester County Board of Elections Commissioner, gave us an overview of the Board of Elections’ duties. This is the place to go for voting info such as where to vote, do you need an absentee ballot? For more information, visit http://www.westchestergov.com/boe

Reggie said it is very difficult, if not impossible, to vote illegally and explained that there is checking and rechecking so that someone cannot vote twice by using the name of a deceased voter or some other way. He also stated that there was no mass conspiracy during the last election. There was much discussion and many questions about this matter and others pertaining to the election process. Thank you, Reggie, for your time and presentation. Please come again.

Meeting Notes

Alice R. presided and the first order of business was to induct our new member, Tom Pomposello, into the Club. Diana Q., his sponsor, pinned him with his member pin and the Club welcomed him into our midst.

Alice asked us to save the date, 6-21-17, for the Bronx Club’s President’s Gala at Marina Del Ray, beginning at 6:00PM.

In reference to the District Paul Harris Luncheon to be held on April 8; one cannot register just for the luncheon, one must register for the whole day. However, if one member registers for the day, others may attend as guests, paying $60. per person. David has registered for the whole day and Helen L. will send him the names of those wishing to attend the Luncheon. More info is forthcoming. Alice gave an overview of the Paul Harris Fellow Award and the honor of being chosen to receive one.

Health of Club

Gloria advised that she will be undergoing heart surgery in the near future. Our best wishes and thoughts are with you, Gloria.

This and That

We had many guests today: Mary Ann and Steve were Geri’s guests; Vickie and Harry came with Diana Q.; Tom was a guest of the Club, as were Reggie and Tashon; one of our good friends, Evelyn, came with Ann, and we were very glad to see her and all our guests.

The 50-50 Raffle was won by Diana Q. who received $6. The Jackpot is now $34.

Our Valentine’s Day Visit to the Yorktown Nutrition Center

On Feb. 14th we enjoyed lunch with the Yorktown seniors instead of having our regularly scheduled meeting on the 15th. Our lunches and the desserts for the Club and the seniors was donated by a very generous person!
