Guest Speaker
Dr. Richard Klein was our guest speaker. He has practiced medicine for many years. He began his presentation by stating that 100,000 people die, every year, from medical malpractice in hospitals. Why? What are people doing to protect themselves? He has written two books, which will help answer these questions and many more, Surviving Your Doctors and 101 Musings and Practical Prescriptions from a Humanitarian Healer.
We had a very interesting discussion about medicine, doctors, insurance, urgent care, cost of drugs, etc. This is a never ending exchange of ideas and we invited Dr. Klein to join us again. Thank you, Dr. Klein. His website is http://www.richardsklein.com/main.htm
Meeting Notes
Alice R. made note of the dog tag presentation ceremony and an article about it in the Somers news online http://www.tapinto.net/.
A suggestion was made that we donate gift cards to the flood victims in Louisiana. To that end Geri offered to go online to ascertain the best way to accomplish that and she will report to the club at the next meeting. Alice said a volunteer is needed to keep the website updated. If interested, please contact her.
Alice and Geri will distribute “Best & the Wurst” flyers to local businesses. The long awaited sunset cruise on the Hudson River is tomorrow. Please be at River Front Park by 6PM.
Health of Club
There have been no reports of illness among the members.
